Recommended Prerequisites

Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Complements of Thermodynamics and Fluids

Teaching Methods

In the theoretical classes the topics dealt with in the program are presented in detail in order to motivate the students to research and complement those topics in their personal study looking more in depth to the proposed subjects.

The theoretical-practical classes are divided into the analysis and resolution of problems and the laboratory component in which the students must test and solve practical situation in the area of application.

Each student must perform two group works, one of experimental nature and another of computational nature in order to complement and strengthen his training

Learning Outcomes

The objective of this discipline is to complement the knowledge in the areas of applied mechanics and fluid mechanics on the analysis of flow in a turbomachine and the fundamentals of operation of the main types of turbomachines.

The students should acquire a good understanding and mastering of the criteria to select and determine the size and operation conditions of turbomachines used both in fixed and mobile installations.

It is also planned to provide a contact with the experimental determination of the characteristics of a set of turbomachines and with the process of designing a radial turbomachine with the respective construction and operation project.
