• Being able to describe common technical solutions and designs for collection and treatment of waste and resource recovery from waste

After a presentation of the environmental and societal context of waste management, the course discusses their classification and provides characterization elements.
The policy and regulatory framework for management of waste is presented as well as the collection, sorting and recovery circuits according to the type of material concerned.
Finally, the course describes the design and operation of sorting, incineration and composting facilities, methanisation and waste storage centers, with a view to reducing their impact environmental. Hazardous waste treatment processes are also discussed.
