Teaching Methods

Lectures with the help of audiovisual media where concepts, principles and theories are presented in detail. Practical ex and real data that meet all the needs of students are presented, with guidelines provided.

Assessment of students involves the undertaking of individual assignments including the production and hand-in of the respective reports, and oral presentation subjected to questions where knowledge transmitted during the course is also evaluated

The final evaluation considers both the final exam (50%), and the individual course work covering issues related to the course syllabus.

Learning Outcomes

To provide students with knowledge concerning:

- •SmartGrid, Microgrid network: to put forward the ongoing changes in electrical networks to account for the use of locally produced sustainable (solar or wind) energy,

•Renewable energy system: to have an overview of the different possible arrangements and to be aware of the impacts of the integration of the sustainable energy,

•Management system: to manage intermittent flow of power production, a centralized or distributed system is used to supervise and control each renewable plant system.

1. General concepts and definitions in the multi-source power systems;

2. Common bus for coupled sources with associated static converters;

3. Standalone multi-source renewable systems: structures, sizing and storage management;

4. Distributed and local management of networks using blockchain.
