Recommended Prerequisites

Training required in General Hydraulics or Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Methods, Hydrology and Water Resources.

Teaching Methods

Theoreticaldetailed exposition of the concepts, principles and theories of hydraulic flow with free surface, river and coastal followed by solving some practical problems that help illustrate the understanding of theoretical exposition with the guidance of the teacher,.

Practical classes using computational tools and laboratory classes where students, working in groups, performing works by applying in practice the theoretical knowledge acquired.

Learning Outcomes

- Provide students with an understanding of the behaviour of the hydrologicaland hydraulic phenomena which can occur in fluvial and coastal systems addressing issues of inter- and multidisciplinary, providing basic knowledge and fundamental science to understand the processes

-Provide computational techniques, the most up-to-date supporting tools to study processes and demonstrate content and relevance through a series of worked examples that contribute to solve practical dysfunctions of natural or anthropogenic origin

- sensitize students to: installation and maintenance of effective systems of river regularization and flood protection;  the need for regular and effective monitoring of morphodynamic processes and of key parameters of water quality;  importance of installing surveillance, monitoring and alerting; the need of analyze and control the main agents unbalancing of the shoreline.
