Recommended Prerequisites

Having successfully completed all curricular units for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the course, especially those for the project.

Teaching Methods

The curricular unit is structured in two components: theoretical and theoretical-practical. The theoretical classes are taught in lectures by the teachers of the curricular unit. These classes also include presentations previously prepared by working groups and their discussion guided by teachers. Theoretical-practical classes bring together students around the proposed themes.

Learning Outcomes

Acquisition of theoretical and methodological skills to carry out research in architecture, in order to lead to the successful formulation of the Thesis Project that will lead to the completion of the Master's Thesis at the end of the course.

Syllabus

• Route of a Dissertation: research and work stages;

• Research methods in the different thematic areas;

• Fields of a Thesis Project: summary, objectives and relevance, structure and method, schedule-planning, references (search, reflection and listing).

 

In addition to these contents, the themes of work proposed for research and group presentation:

o bibliographic references, standards and styles;

o text or book reading form;

o descriptions of spaces, from the compartment to the landscape;

o critical analysis of a MIA dissertation in project;

o critical analysis of an MIA dissertation in theory;

o analysis of a viva exam: presentation and discussion.
