Learning Outcomes

Public presentation of the dissertation project before a panel. The dissertation project should demonstrate the following outcomes:
● Demonstrate capacity to formulate a research problem (precision and originality);
● Demonstrate capacity to define research objectives (clarity, specificity, relevance)
● Demonstrate capacity to build the appropriate context for the research question;
● Demonstrate capacity to describe the state of the art relevant to the research question;
● Demonstrate capacity to define an adequate research methodology and planning;
● Demonstrate capacity for clear writing and organization of the thesis project document;
● Demonstrate capacity to use relevant bibliographic references regarding the research project, without theoretical, geographic or language bias;
● Demonstrate conciseness, clarity and scientific rigour in the oral presentation of the project;
● Demonstrate relevance and reasoning ability in the answers to the jury's questions.

The syllabus is the same defined for the curricular unit of Research Methods. The contents of each thesis project must fit the methods and research objects in Information Science. The thesis project conforms to the following structure of the template used in this doctoral program, which also defines the minimum and maximum length of the research proposal, which is the following:
1. Title
2. Adviser(s)
3. Abstract
4. Keywords
5. State of the art
6. Research Objectives and approach
7. The general structure of the thesis [Contents]
8. Current work and preliminary results
9. Work plan [Timeline] and implications
10. Conclusion
11. Bibliographic references
