(1) Concept of sustainable development.

(2) Dimensions of a sustainable development policy: economic dimension; environmental dimension; social dimension.

(3) Sustainable development indicators.

(4) Sustainable development strategy of the United Nations: the Agenda 21.

(5) Sustainable development strategy of the European Union: general principles and specific programs.

(6) Sustainable development strategy of Portugal: qualification of human resources; increase of economic competitiveness; conservation of nature; land-use planning; social cohesion; cooperation with developing countries.
