Teaching methods: theoretical for theoretical explanations; Theoretical and practical for conceptual and real-case analysis and discussion. Tutorial orientation for the development of case studies.

- Understanding of the various issues involved (social, economic, environmental, technological, legal and political) in water management.

Planning methodologies. International and National water resources legislation. Watershed master plans. National Water Master Plan. Water systems components. Water budgets. Decision making in water systems: technical, economic, social, legal, environmental and political aspects. Governance. Public participation. Decision models: objective function, constraints and variables. Multi-objective decision analysis. Cost-benefit analysis. Risk concept. Redundant, resilient and robust systems. Reservoir-Dams operation. Integrated management of surface water and groundwater systems. Water allocation among different users. Water quality management: point sources and non-point sources.
