Teaching Methods

Teaching methods include more conceptual and theoretical sessions, although combined with participation of students, where the mapping of the central elements of the learning process is developed, as well as tutorials where these elemeents are applied to practical cases and where sructured debates are organised.

- Familiarize students acquainted with the fundamental dynamics and ators in International Relations.

- Understand fundamental concepts in International Relations

- Identify the dynamics structuring the conetmporary international order

- Map the most relavant actors in International Relations and their interests and approaches in central thematic areas

- Understanding current debates regarding structures of power and international order.

Syllabus

1. Concepts in International Relations: power, international order, anarchy, intitutions, etc.

2. Theoretical views on the contemporary international order: realism, liberalism, English school, social constructivism, etc.

3. Global governance, multilateralism, regionalism, bilateralism

4. International organisations: UN, NATO, WTO, World Bank, etc.

5. New ators in international relations: non-state actors, sub-state actors, networks, epistemic comunities, etc.

6. Major issues: peace and security, economic governance, development, human rights, environment, etc.

7. Current debates on the international order.
