Recommended Prerequisites

Average knowledge of typography, Average knowledge of Web Design.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical classes for exposure and discussion of communication topics and editorial design, and for case studies. Practical classes to guide, monitor, explore and develop projects.

Learning Outcomes

Learn how communication affects message perception and processing, investigate communication theories, learn to address communication challenges and apply this knowledge in the context of multiplatform editorial design, with special focus on the transition between different media. In this way, the student will be able to:

- Understand information theories;

- Know how to address communication challenges;

- Understand editorial design strategies;

- Recognize the new editing paradigms that arise from the intersection and complementarity of production and publication means;

- Develop analytical skills by recognizing current strategies for creating and publishing content in the post-digital era;

- Know how to use experimental approaches in different media and the application of different editorial design strategies for the production of communication artefacts;

- Know how to apply the appropriate hybrid or expanded editing and publication methodologies.

a. Direct (designer, writer, translator, proofreader, editor, producer) and indirect (editor, bookseller, distributor, archive, library, papermaker, graphics, museum, prize) actors of an editorial project

a. Different editorial formats

b. Schematization, design and development of editorial platforms aimed at the universe of publishing in different media

c. Hybrid or expanded publications

5. Typographic parameterization

a. Format, grid, microtypography, macrotypography, screen fonts

6. Grid systems, visual narrative

a. Hierarchy, responsiveness, proportion

7. Publishing support software

a. Scripts and plugins.
