Recommended Prerequisites
Prior knowledge of Greek and Latin; Greek IV/ Latin IV ou equivalent level.
Teaching Methods
The topics will be proposed by the professor, by contextualizing the theoretical framework with practical commentary on examples of specific manuscripts. The students will be called upon to participate actively in thinking about the points of the syllabus and in doing individual research, the aim being the presentation of a small exercise in critical edition.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes pertain to the acquisition of basic knowledge in the area of Greek and Latin manuscripts, in order to give the necessary conceptual tools with a view to attempting the critical edition of texts and authors from Classical Antiquity. The aim is that students should acquire the expertise necessary for comparing manuscripts and for the constitution of a critical apparatus. At the end of the curricular unit, they should be able to identify scripts according to period and evaluate the contribution for a critical edition of given Greek and Latin manuscripts.
