Teaching Methods

The theoretical and theoretical-practical classes will be taught in two intensiver weeks, being also planned one field trip to the European Maritime Safety Agency.

Learning Outcomes

This discipline provides the foundations for the development and analyses of policies related to Oceans.

The main objectives of this discipline are to acquire knowledge and competence to allow students to:

 

1) Understand how countries currently work to address socio-economic, environmental and cultural issues related to Oceans;

2) Understand actions of countries/governments/Treaties to influence ocean-related development, activities and outcomes, using science and laws;

3) Understand the legal context and international law that underpins ocean governance.
