Teaching Methods

During the 2nd semester of the first year of studies, each student has the opportunity to express his / her choice to carry out the dissertation or the social intervention project the following year, presenting his / her suggestions of topics to be developed. The Master's coordination evaluates these proposals and assigns a teacher to guide the work. The respective development is done from there through regular orientation meetings and at the Dissertation / Project Seminar. The dissertation or social intervention project must be defended in public evidence before a jury.

Learning Outcomes

Objectives: carry out an investigation or elaborate a social intervention project in the field of social work and report them in writing;

Competences to be developed:

Be able to use the acquired theoretical and methodological knowledge, as well as be able to acquire others that appear necessary;

Be able to develop a research or project work with autonomy, revealing a critical spirit and a reflection of its own;

Be able to prepare a dissertation or a project in writing, presenting its constituent elements: theoretical framework, methodologies, results, discussion, conclusions and, in the case of the projects, the proposal;

Be able to argue in a clear and convincing way about the coherence of the work carried out, namely on its relevance, the validity of the theoretical and methodological options as well as their sustainability.

Each student chooses a dissertation or social intervention project subject that must be approved by the supervisor(s).

The proposal of the dissertation or social intervention project, along with a declaration from the supervisor, must be approved by the Masters' programme coordination.
