Learning Outcomes

It is intended that student acquires theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of pain measuring enables developing and/or implementing tools that seek to evaluate certain dimensions of pain, subjective and objective.
It is intended that the student acquires theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of pain classification and assessment, which will allow a correct diagnosis and effective therapeutic intervention.

General principles of assessment and measurement of pain.
The different dimensions of pain that is possible to assess and measure.
The intensity scales for measurement of pain - unidimensional and multidimensional Scales. Its advantages and disadvantages.
Classification of pain according time duration, age group and etiopathogey
Nociceptive pain mechanism and pathways.
Neuropathic Pain: Clinical characteristics and aetiology. Epidemiology and pathophysilogy of common neuropathic pain syndromes. Pathological changes in the nervous system. Central changes following peripheral nerve injury or disease. Therapeutic interventions applied in neuropathic pain
Functional and mixed pain.
Descriptors
Spontaneous and evoked pain. 

Presentation, discussion and resolution of clinical examples.
