Recommended Prerequisites

Training equivalent to a Degree in access to the degree you are attending. Frequency and approval of the discipline of Human-Computer Interaction / Interaction Design. Understanding of the English language.

Teaching Methods

The methodology is based on seminars that combine theoretical presentations of models, methods and instruments with practical exercises and project activities in a studio environment. Autonomous practical work is required for synthesis of readings, critical analysis or answer to questions, and a group project where the student exercises the techniques, and the communication and organization skills involved in them. The project involves several stages, with presentation and critique sessions, with feedback from colleagues and the teacher.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit aims to develop students' understanding of the importance of applying the principles of Accessibility and Universal Design in the design and development of interactive systems, aimed at people with different skill levels and diverse needs, such as blind, deaf, or old age. It is intended that the student is able to:

- Understand and distinguish between the concepts of inclusive design, universal design, accessibility, and assistive technologies.

- Understand the importance of product design and development that prioritize diversity, and accommodate different levels of skill, disability, and disability.

- Identify, describe, and understand the application of universal design principles.

- Analyze and apply tools that aim to accommodate the diversity of users.

- Develop the ability to conceive, design, prototype, evaluate and build proposals for Universal Design / assistive technologies.
