Teaching Methods

The thesis work is developed:

1) autonomously by the student, with periodical tutorial sessions with the supervisor and the regular submission of chapters and research reports, guided by a pre-established thesis project that is improved during the doctoral process as monitored by the supervisor.

2) Through biweekly follow-up seminars, working in b-learning regime, where students present and discuss the preliminary results of their thesis work and submit progress reports. 

Learning Outcomes

This curricuIar unit aims at the deveIopment of a doctoraI thesis aiming at attainting the doctorate degree according to the requirements for the awarding of the reguIations of the University of Coimbra, particuIarIy regarding the competences and skiIIs Iisted.

Regarding the competences in the socioIogicaI domain, this curricuIar unit aims at deveIoping and endorse the capacity to handIe with accuracy and technicaI exceIIency the research tooIs of socioIogy. The deveIopment and confirmation of the abiIity to criticaIIy assess the needs in each space of intervention in socioIogy, Iead quaIitative and quantitative research and produce rigorous anaIysis and synthesis of the research resuIts are required.
