Recommended Prerequisites

Are recommended basic knowledge of statistics, especially those arising from Introduction to Statistics.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes, individual and group tasks specific to the selected contents. The evaluation process recommended in the curricular unit promotes the applied mastery of the subjects covered, through problem solving reports and research work.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit is oriented towards the development of skills of analysis, interpretation and discussion of quantitative and qualitative data, which are fundamental for the development of scientific research and for the understanding of sports training phenomena.

By completing the curricular unit, students should be able to identify: the potential of quantitative/qualitative methodologies and their application to solve a certain problem in the context of sport training; know and apply quantitative analysis techniques using (or not) specific software (SPSS); identify the main approaches to quantitative research, as well as elementary techniques for collecting, analyzing and presenting qualitative data using (or not) specific software (NVivo).
