Teaching Methods

Collective teaching sessions with problem solving activities, to facilitate the integration of the material and the formative assessment. Personal orientation sessions, evaluated through the resolution of field situations related to the T and TP subjects addressed, and through a synthesis work (Case study, deepening of a subject related to the curricular unity).

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit aims to: [1] promote the acquisition of knowledge about sports nutrition in order to assist athletes in optimizing recovery and performance, but also helping to prevent them from harming their health through inadequate nutritional and supplementation practices; [2] to facilitate interdisciplinarity with the nutritionist, among others, in order to allow a better compatibility between training and nutritional planning; [3] reinforce scientific knowledge in this area of knowledge in order to assist in monitoring, identification and nutritional assessment, as well as [4] anticipating nutritional problems and contributing to a better effectiveness of the diet and supplementation plan for trained athletes; [5] contribute to the inclusion of a new facet of improvement throughout the life of the training process, in the different phases of sports training and in diverse contexts.
