Recommended Prerequisites

Students must show the basic knowledge of the English language for the access of relevant bibliography. Additionally, they should have the knowledge of the fundamentals of physical training and periodization to facilitate the success in this course unit.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical, expositive, and theoretical-practical sessions aimed to solve problems that emerges from simulated training situations. Some theoretical sessions will have the testimonial contribution of experienced coache  Students should perform two learning reinforcement assessment tasks: a synthesis based on the most recent literature on each of the main topics (physical quality training and periodization), and a field work on the critical analysis of real training sessions.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the student should demonstrate the ability to:

a) Recognize the fundamentals, of the planning and periodization and of the development of the biomotor capacities;

b) Master the selection and application of training methods aimed at optimizing performance, respecting the constraints of the sports career stage and the moment of annual preparation.

c) Show the ability to interpret the control and evaluation protocols and the make adequate decisions for training program.

d) Recognize the current trend of the planning and peridization models, demonstrating ability to select the most appropriate  according to the characteristics of the modality and the practitioners.
