Teaching Methods
Lectures in theoretical classes aimed at developing a solid scientific and technical foundation in the broad field of embedded systems technologies, which form the basis of a large part of modern instrumentation systems;
Training in practical and theoretical-practical classes, along with the study of paradigmatic case studies, aimed at conveying best practices and developing decision-making abilities, critical evaluation, and implementation of solutions.
Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of embedded systems, addressing their architecture, organization, performance, and functional requirements. Students acquire introductory knowledge in digital systems (Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential circuit design, registers and memories).
Digital memories will be studied, including their structure, organization, technologies, and the role of memory hierarchy and programmable logic in overall performance. Students will work with microcontroller-based platforms, exploring interaction with the external environment to develop practical applications.
The course also introduces the application of embedded systems, covering basic principles of communication between devices. By the end, students should be able to analyse, design, and implement basic embedded system components applicable to instrumentation, automation, or intelligent devices.
