Recommended Prerequisites

Transports; Highways; Geotechnics; Transport Infrastructures.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical lessons with detailed exposition of the concepts, basic principles and theories and also with the resolution of practical exercises. The students, with the supervision and guidance of the professor, solve practical exercises based in real problems and a project of maintenance and rehabilitation of a transport infrastructure.

Learning Outcomes

The overall objective is to provide students with sound knowledge of the fundamentals of the maintenance and rehabilitation of transport infrastructures, particularly with regard to road infastructures, airport infrastructures and railway infrastructures. At the end of the course students should be able to: design the pavement for a new road; design the reinforcement of a degradated road pavement; design the rehabilitation of an airport pavement; design the rehabilitation of a railway.
