Regional and Urban Planning and Urban Projet.
Teaching Methods
Predicting is a 7 structure (seven) theoretical-practical classes, generally each class will have a related matter exposure that section, with students encouraged to develop and submit assessments for the planning system of the municipality, namely the PDM and a specific urban project of it.
Learning Outcomes
This course is intended to familiarize students with the concrete issues of municipal urban planning and management. It confers competencies in the elaboration, appreciation and execution of Municipal Spatial Planning Plans. Performs an update of current legislation and tests implementation on existing and new plans.
It puts students in the position of a Civil Engineer who has to evaluate municipal planning systems and plans.
It promotes the constant intervention of students in the appreciation of documents and projects and the presentation, in a debate model, of their conclusions.
Encourages students' ability to propose solutions that promote sustainable cities.

1. Background: Territorial Division; the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic; European, national and regional framework for municipal planning; urban legislation in Portugal.
2. Municipal Spatial Planning Plans (PMOT); the process of elaboration of the PMOT; the PDM (Municipal Spatial Planning Plan); active urbanism and passive urbanism.
3. Municipal Urban Management: Active execution of the plan: land policies, infrastructure and equipment; passive execution of the plan: urban allotment operations and buildings; organization and processing of licensing processes. Characterization and appreciation of a specific PDM.
4, 5 and 6 - Evaluation of a Local Urban Project in terms of its economic, social, environmental and institutional sustainability, considering not only the laws and regulations in force at the site but also the strategic guidelines at international level.
7 - Presentation of the evaluation of the Urban Project analyzed.
