Recommended Prerequisites

Students must have a strong background in mechanical behavior of materials. They should also have good knowledge of the laws of classical physics.

Teaching Methods

Classes run under theoretical and practical. In the first classes are presented the concepts and technologies associated with the concepts. In subsequent lessons are detailed aspects of technology and application exercises performed in class or lab. Students participate actively in the process of formation, being asked to present solutions to the problems posed. They are also asked to present and analyze the problems of its industrial enterprises.

Learning Outcomes

Transmit the knowledge base considered in the area of metallic materials and the production of structures by welding technologies. Addressing the fundamentals and the standardization of metallic materials commonly in use in the construction of metal structures present the main technologies of fusion welding and solid state, as well as brazing technologies, and the selection criteria and application of these technologies. Introduce the main concepts of fracture mechanics necessary for selection of materials and design structures. The basis of the fatigue behavior of materials and welded structures.

Work Placement(s)
