Recommended Prerequisites

Students must have a strong background in structural mechanics and strength of materials. They should also have a good knowledge about structural analysis.

Teaching Methods

Classes run under theoretical and practical. In the classes are presented the theoretical concepts and the code formulations for the design of steel and composite connections. Simultaneously, some illustrative examples are solved. Students participate actively in the process of formation, being asked to present solutions to the proposed problems. Tutorial lessons (22.5 hours) will be to answer questions.

Learning Outcomes

Address the key issues involved in the conception and design of steel and composite connections, according to European regulations for structural design, including Eurocode 3 part 1-8.
