Linear Algebra and Analytic Geometry

Mathematical Analysis I and II

Numerical Methods

Mechanics II

Continuum Mechanics

Strength of Materials I and II

Structural Analysis.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes with detailed exposition of the concepts, principles and fundamental theories and the resolution of some practical exercises in each chapter. Some practical exercises to be solved by the students, with the guidance of the teacher, will be provided. A reinforced concrete beam will be tested in the laboratory in order to illustrate the several stages of a typical reinforced concrete element.

Learning Outcomes

Review of basic concepts of concrete structures. For practical cases of reinforced concrete structures it is intended that students can improve their skills towards the identification of the structural system and the actions on these structures. The aim is also to be able to make the design and analysis of specific elements, including columns, slabs and foundations. To this end they will have to become familiar with rules and standards that contain specific aspects of the design of slabs, columns, foundations, and retaining walls, both the documents relating to the definition of materials, such as the definition of the actions, and the corresponding structural design and construction of structures.
