Teaching Methods

Each class will have a presentation of the subject followed by practical exercises related to the final objective, with students being asked to play an intervening and collaborative role by presenting diagnoses and proposals throughout the process, to discuss them.

Learning Outcomes

The Urban Project discipline, in the context of MGCET aims to provide students with:
• Knowledge about the main concepts, methodologies (from diagnosis to programming and design) and criteria associated with the conception of sustainable urban space;
• Knowledge of the main legal and regulatory instruments available from an application perspective to sustainable urban design;
• The ability to collaborate in the design of different types of urban project;
• The ability to estimate costs and income resulting from an urban operation, ensuring its sustainability in economic, environmental and social terms;
• The ability to integrate multidisciplinary teams in projects that call for the interconnection between different objectives, scales, methodologies and areas of knowledge regarding the action on the urban, physical and social space.

2. Diagnosis and Intervention Objectives
Sustainability Criteria Indicators and thresholds.
3. Instruments
Legislation and regulations; Other strategic orientations; Geographic information systems, urban design and simulation programs, games.
4. Programming of the built space; Application of urban indicators; Location of land uses and building activities Uses and activities and their impact on travel generation Preliminary project.
5. Programming of unbuilt space
Integration of road infrastructures (circulation and parking), relationship with the built space and modes of transport, Characteristics of public space and green spaces, Draft infrastructure for all modes of transport.
6. Estimate of costs, fees and urban planning
Costs; Fees; Equitative Distribution.
7. Presentation and Simulation of the final project.
