Compulsory
2nd Cycle Studies - Mestrado
Recommended Prerequisites
Continuum Mechanics, Hydraulics and Hydrology.
Teaching Methods
Lectures on theoretical aspects, presentation and discussion of examples of practical application, resolution of problems, and autonomous development of a small project of water supply and drainage (by students). Tutorial classes for implementation of the project. The course evaluation consists of the final exam and implementation of the project.
Learning Outcomes
The objectives of this course are to provide students with knowledge on design and modeling techniques for water supply and sewer and water drainage (Urban Water Cycle) as well as given legislative background.
It is intended that students will be able of an evaluation, analyze and technical economical discussion.
It is intended that, in relation to the topics, students develop skills of independent learning and critical thinking, and analysis and synthesis, focusing on the practical application of theoretical knowledge to enable the resolution of problems.
Work Placement(s)
NoSyllabus
Urban water needs. Study of conveyance systems, tanks, distribution systems, hydraulic transients, dynamic simulation of systems in pressure and water quality, drainage of sewage and rainwater. Principles of water and wastewater treatment.
