2nd Cycle Studies - Mestrado
Recommended Prerequisites
Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Transport Phenomena.
Teaching Methods
Classes are mainly of tutorial nature, where theoretical concepts are followed by the reference to the available technologies. Whenever feasible, practical illustrations of real examples will be given.
There will be no clear distinction between tutorial and practical classes, these being used to emphasize real applications.
Learning Outcomes
Provide students with knowledge about the various technologies, potentials, principles, and applications related to the various sources of renewable energy. The various options are analyzed, including solar thermal and photovoltaic systems, wind energy, hydraulic systems, biomass and biofuels production, wave and tidal energy, and geothermal energy. The various forms of energy storage are also addressed as they play a very important role for the the best harnessing of some of the more powerful renewable energy sources.
