Teaching Methods

Enabling student learning is built on the use of mixed methods. The lecturing and demonstrating approaches are initially used and learning based on case studies approaches are also privileged. Students work individually and/or in small groups on some career assessment case studies (fictitious and real) and are trained to handle, interpret and communicate various types of assessment procedures, both formal (standardized) and informal (qualitative).

Learning Outcomes

Psychological assessment is a core competence of career practitioners. Students will develop a comprehensive and current perspective on the field of career assessment. The main tools and methods used by psychologists to assess three vocational psychology core elements (contents, processes and cognitions) are presented; they will learn how to organize and implement a comprehensive and multimodal assessment protocol of individual differences variables (aptitudes, interests, needs/values), career processes constructs (decision making, maturity/adaptability and adult career adjustment) and career-related cognitions (beliefs and perceptions of self-efficacy). Students will learn to conduct a complete psychological assessment process in the field of career planning and intervention and to use/communicate the results in a competent and ethical manner.
