Recommended Prerequisites

It is recommended that students have prior background knowledge in the filed of Psychopathology and Clinical ahd Health Psychology. The basic knowledge of english language is also recommended. 

Teaching Methods

The expositive method (using the projection of power point presentations) will be used for the presentation of theoretical contents, which will be accompanied by the promotion of discussion and reflection among students on various topics related to the programmatic contents. The discussion of clinical cases will also be a method used in the practical demonstration of the aspects taught.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the Curricular Unit, the student should have learned the general principles of pharmacologic tretament, as well as basic notions of classification and diagnosis in psychiatry. He should recognize the differences between the various groups of drugs and its clinical applications. He should know the general principles for the use of these medications in clinical practice, taking into account its pharmacologic effects, clinical indications, side effects, drug interactions, dosage and administration. He should have learned basic notions relative to the use of these medications in specific clinical situations, including treatment-resistant disorders, pregnancy and breastfeeding, gerontopsychiatry, medical comorbidity and emergency conditions.
