Teaching Methods

Expository classes with provision of current and representative bibliography of the themes, including studies for the Portuguese population. Training of skills for planning a neuropsychological stimulation and/or rehabilitation program adapted to clinical conditions. Training of practical skills for implementation, monitoring and integration of information/outputs of cognitive rehabilitation from visits to institutions (eg: Center for Stimulation for People with Dementia, Associação Bento XVI, Alzheimer Portugal, among others).

Learning Outcomes

1. To know the fundamentals, principles and objectives of neuropsychological rehabilitation.

2. To know the main types and methodologies of neuropsychological rehabilitation.

3. To frame the main types of neuropsychological rehabilitation in stimulation and/or rehabilitation of different psychological functions and in different clinical conditions, including their potential and limits.

 

Skills/Learning outcomes: 1. To demonstrate competence in planning and implementing neuropsychological rehabilitation techniques. 2. To demonstrate the ability to monitor, articulate and communicate information on the outputs of the intervention. 3. To understand the complexity, potential and limits of intervention work in neuropsychological stimulation and rehabilitation. 4. To know current research topics in this area.

1. Multidimensional model of neuropsychological rehabilitation.

2. Importance of the close relationship between neuropsychological assessment and the design of a neuropsychological stimulation and/or rehabilitation program.

3. Techniques of stimulation and/or neuropsychological rehabilitation: theoretical and empirical basis, exemplification of application in various clinical conditions, associated ethical aspects and potentialities and limits.
