Recommended Prerequisites

It is strongly recommended that students have prior background knowledge in the fields of Psychopathology and Clinical and Health Psychology. It is still recommended that students have taken the course of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies in Adults I and Cognitive Behavioral Assessment in Clinical Context (1st semester of the 1st year of this study cycle).

Teaching Methods

Lectures, with powerpoint presentations, will be used to present the theoretical contexts, including the presentation of illustrative clinical examples. To demonstrate the articulation between research and clinical practice, mental health professionals conducting research in the area will be invited to present some programmatic content, followed by guided debate. In practical classes, several clinical examples will be presented, with frequent use of modeling strategies (role play and video) and training of clinical intervention skills, ensuring the active involvement of students (group works).

Learning Outcomes

Students are expected to: 1) know in depth the models that integrate the cognitive behavioral paradigm (CBT) and particularly its application to anxiety-mediated disorders; 2) develop assessment, conceptualization and clinical CBT intervention skills; 3) understand the applicability of the transdiagnostic CBT model for emotional disorders; 4) identify the specificities of the different delivery formats of CBT (group, couple, e-emental health).

Skills:

1. To know in depth the general principles of the CBT model and its application to clinical disorders mediated by anxiety

2. To apply assessment, formulation and clinical intervention skills based on the specific intervention protocols for the clinical disorders

3. To reflect on transdiagnostic processes in emotional disorders and to develop skills in the application of the Transdiagnostic intervention protocol

4.To known in depth the specificities of the different delivery formats of CBT (group, couple, e-mental health)
