Fundamentals of Circuits and Electronics, Electrical Circuits, Electronics I and II.

Teaching Methods

The course is based on two types of classes: theoretical-practical classes, where the different course topics are presented and discussed, including problem solving, and laboratorial classes, which will allow a practical approach to LabVIEW, as well as implementation of experimental works for application and study of the concepts discussed in the theoretical-practical classes. 

Learning Outcomes

After successful attendance of the course, students should be capable of understanding measurement processes of electrical quantities, as well as measuring methods for different physical/chemical quantities. Also, measuring systems errors, as well as instrument principle for data collection. It is also expectable that students will be able of conceive electronic measuring systems for satisfying specific needs by the end of the course.

Syllabus

1. Measuring methods and errors: standards and calibration.

2. Measurement of electrical quantities. DC and AC measurements.

3. Electronic measuring systems: measure of frequency, voltage, phase, current, power and energy.

4. Measuring temperature, light, magnetic fields, .pressure, displacement, levels, gases/humidity, rotation and acceleration.

5. Analog signal conditioning in instrumentation. measuring bridges, Filters. Instrumentation amplifiers.

6. Analog to digital and digital to analog converters.

7. I/O systems for processing units.

8. Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function/signal generators and multimeters.

9. Specral analysers and network analysers.

10.LabVIEW introduction.Using LabVIEW in the development of mesuring systems.
