Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practice classes with the issues exposition and presentation of examples to consolidate the contents. Practical classes with laboratory assembly and simulation of circuits.

Learning Outcomes

Provide adequate training about the instrumentation for measuring and visualization of electrical quantities. Provide the students with the essential techniques of circuit analysis to be succed in the following curricular units that depend on it.

Electrical quantities. Notion of electric charge, current, Voltage, and Power. Electrical resistance and Ohm's law. Laws of Kirchhoff. Association of sources and resistances in series and parallel. Voltage and current divider circuit. Transformation of sources. Equivalents of Thévenin and Norton. Maximum power transfer. Principle of overlap. Notion of coil and capacitor. Voltage-current relationship. Association in series and in parallel of coils and capacitors. Circuit simulation tools. Notion of semiconductor. Type N. Type P. Majority and minority carriers. Junction diodes. PN junction. Characteristic curves. Type of diodes and applications. Half wave and full wave rectification. Limiting circuits. Transistors. Bipolar transistors.
