Teaching Methods

The course is mostly taught in the form of seminars, that each student must compulsorily summarize in reports of around 2000 characters.

Some lectures are accompanied by work carried by students with consultation on the internet.

Work on computer skills is carried out in groups of two students.

Project work involves a practical component.

Evaluation components and corresponding weights (as percentage) in the final grade: Exam 40, Project 60.

Knowledge of Engineering Physics, its specific characteristics and its practice.

Presentation of the educational path, methods and means used.

Ability to summarise a lecture orally or in writing, retaining its essential aspects.

1. Participation in Seminars on the activities of the Physics Department and Research Centres given by professors of the University of Coimbra, invited successful engineers, businessmen, graduates and PhD students.

2. Presentation and discussion of the engineering profession and the engineer profile.

3. Engineering Physics - presentation and debate.

4. Characteristics of engineers and group work.

5. Codes, regulations and standards.

6. Using computer tools in Engineering.

7. Proper use of internet search engines.

8. Realization of two practical projects in small groups.
