Recommended Prerequisites

General Physics I. Foundations of Modern Physics. Laboratory Techniques in Physics . Frequency of General Physics II.

Teaching Methods

Students are given a guide as well as bibliography to study and prepare the experiment and can visit the lab prior to class. They are encouraged to keep a logbook in class, where every occurrence and relevant notes related to the experiment should be reported. This logbook will have an important role in the elaboration of the report.

Learning Outcomes

The student should develop analysis and synthesis capabilities as well as critical judgment. Also should learn to adapt to new situations and be able to recognize data quality. Competences to develop: capability to investigate, to organize and plan, to communicate orally and in writing, problem solving, team work and application of theoretical knowledge.

Work Placement(s)

No

Syllabus

Perform a set of experiments in the areas of Mechanics, Electricity and Modern Physics, in the framework of the contents learned in the courses of General Physics I and II, and in Foundations of Modern Physics.
The experiments are focused on elastic springs, rotational movement, Ohm and Kirchhoff laws, light and electron diffraction and photoelectric effect. The objective is to relate and interpret the obtained results with the theoretical concepts acquired in other courses, and apply and develop the experimental data analysis techniques.
In each area are performed 2 to 3 laboratory experiments, with a maximum duration of 3 hours each.
The results obtained will be written and analyzed in a logbook and for some of them a written report will be asked for and evaluated by the professor.
