1st Cycle Studies
Recommended Prerequisites
Statistics and data analysis, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Urbanism and transports, Geotechnics, Constructions, Techniques of instrumental analysis, Thermodynamics, Transfer phenomena.
Teaching Methods
Teaching methods acquire practical nature, involving tutorial orientation, with monitoring and supervision of computer modeling works and laboratory tests. Throughout the duration of the course, all groups will have contact with all scientific areas of Environmental Engineering. In order to ensure continuous work development during the course, students should periodically deliver progress reports of work in progress.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims at promoting the interdisciplinarity and contextualization of the themes / subjects addressed during the course of Environmental Engineering Degree.
In more specific terms:
i) To promote the use of theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems, bringing the knowledge obtained in the classroom closer to professional activity in the field of environmental engineering.
ii) To promote the connection between the contents studied throughout the course, addressing complementary themes, in order to promote the integral formation of the student.
iii) Encourage creativity, critical spirit, autonomy, as well as initiative and innovation.
iv) Promote teamwork and healthy competition between the various groups.
Work Placement(s)
NoSyllabus
Analysis, in working groups, of specific problems related to environmental Engineering through the perspectives of different scientific areas. The problems under analysis may involve the proposal of alternative technical solutions, and require the performance of laboratory tests, supported by computer modeling and the a written report.
Annually, sets of works will be proposed from different scientific areas. Students will have to do 3 works from different scientific areas to which they should apply.
