Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to answer the following five questions, from the point of view of their history within the psychology of language, the state of the art in this discipline, and research methods: 1.What representations and processes underpin the perception and production of speech sounds? 2.What representations and processes underpin the understanding and production of single words? 3. What representations and processes underpin the understanding and production of sentences? 4.What are the main brain structures involved in the understanding and production of words and sentences? 5.What are the main stages in the normative acquisition af a first language? After completing the course, students should differentiate and interrelate the cognitive counterparts of the three levels of the linguistic code- phonemic, lexical and syntactic- should be familiar with the methodologies used in their study, and understand their links with different brain structures, as well as their development.
