Compulsory
1st Cycle Studies
Recommended Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Physics and Continuum Mechanics.
Teaching Methods
Theoretical classes with exposition and demonstration of basic concepts, often using audiovisual media and visits to the Water Resources and Environment Hydraulics Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Coimbra.
Theoretical-practical classes where students solve exercises of a more applied character, with greater volume of computations and perform, in group, laboratory experiments that are later object of a report.
Learning Outcomes
The curricular unit of Hydraulics I intends to introduce the students to fundamental concepts hydraulics. It marks the beginning of a process, complemented by further hydraulics curricular units, which aims to empower students with a solid knowledge base necessary for analyzing and understanding hydraulic phenomena.
