Theoretical-practical lessons, throgh theoretic lectures about the issues and subsequent analysis of practical cases from Portuguese and Brazilian courts.

Learning Outcomes

Understanding and critically master the legal framework of the labour contract, from its formation to its extinction, through a Luso-Brazilian perspective.

Syllabus

Labour contract: notion; formation; content (object, place and time for work), categories (fixed-term contract, temporary, intermittent, part-time, service commision, teleworking), main vicissitudes (modification and suspension) and parts' rights and duties (holidays and absences, the worker's personality rights, retribution); cessation of the contract and especially the dismissal regime in Portugal and in Brazil. The legal framework of the labour contract will be studied in compartive terms, considering the Portuguese Labour Code and the Brazilian regime contained in the Labour Laws Consolidation.
