Part 1. Thermodynamics

Scientific context of chemical thermodynamics. Review of concepts.

Advanced topics in thermodynamics of solutions. Advanced notions on the thermodynamic and molecular interpretation of solution processes and related thermodynamic cycles.

Advanced topics in phase equilibria, from one- to multi-component systems.

Advanced topics in chemical reactions: equilibrium conditions and determinants of the yield of chemical reactions.

Advanced experimental methods for the experimental determination of thermodynamic properties.

 

Part II. Kinetics

 Scientific context of Chemical Kinetics. Factors influencing the rate of reaction. Advanced experimental methods. Notion and determination of kinetic orders and rate constants.

 Advanced molecular dynamics. Reactivity in thermalized systems. Advanced topics on structure and reactivity relationships.

 Elementary reactions in solution. Acid-base catalysis.
