2nd Cycle Studies - Mestrado
Recommended Prerequisites
Knowledge in petrology and generalgeology.
Teaching Methods
Theoretical-practical lectures with presentation and discussion about the study area. Field work it will be developed under the supervision of teacher.
Learning Outcomes
With this course it is intended that students may develop scientific and technical skills in the domain of thematic cartography related to different physical parameters, namely involved geological and environmental issues. Students should be able to produce, in autonomous way, geological maps (with different variables), maps of land use, of hazards related with natural risks, of potential and protection of hydrological resources and other geological resources from observation in locco of a particular region.
Work Placement(s)
NoSyllabus
The syllabus will be developed in function of the area to study and map: 1. Introduction to the regional geology: stratigraphic (lithostratigraphic) units and structural geology; 2. Identification of the environmental parameters and qualification of the land use; 3. Importance of thematic cartography: environmental variables able to be mapping in function of the geology in the study area; 4. Field work towards the production of thematic cartography that will involve different maps: geological, structural, outcrops, land use, hydrographic systems, hydrological potential and protection, hazards and geological resources.
Head Lecturer(s)
