Learning Outcomes

The main goal of this curricular unit is to equip PhD students with high levels of research skills in the specialty of their PhD. It is intended that the doctorate be associated with ongoing research projects in their lab or research team of the R&D unit, in order to deepen their knowledge in research topics of their specialty, integrating several phases of the research. (such as planning, implementation, data collection, data analysis and presentation of results). It should be based on principles of research ethical integrity and deepen bibliographic research and critical analysis skills, specific research and data analysis methodologies, as well as develop integration and teamwork skills.

Syllabus

Learning centered on high-level research activities integrated in labs or research teams of the R&D unit, which will be guided by research lines proposed by the PhD tutor(s). This learning, which aims to foster the development of original research, focuses specifically on the following aspects:

1. Training of technical skills in planning and research design;

2. Participation (guided by ethical principles) in the data collection of ongoing research projects);

3. Data storage and analysis;

4. Communication (oral and written) with the academic community (e.g., oral or poster presentation, collaboration in the writing of a manuscript for publication).
