Teaching Methods

The uc is designed to be taught as theoretical and theoretical-practical classes, in which syllabus will be presented (expository method), followed by activities carried out by students on the presented topics (problem solving and task development), respectively. Students must prepare a short scientific article that will later be presented and reviewed by other students based on peer review.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit (uc) aims to provide students writing and oral communication skills in the area of health sciences relevant to their medical training and for communication with their peers and with general public. Students will also learn how to effectively edit and critique their work and the work of others, as well as how to take advantage of constructive criticism and reviewers’ comments and evaluators in order to improve the quality and clarity of their written and oral communications. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the entire process of publishing in scientific journals and presenting results at conferences.

6. Writing standards (APA and NP-405)

7. Issues in scientific writing (plagiarism, authorship and authors' responsabilities, ghostwriting, reproducible research)
