Internship in Accounting and Taxation

Teaching Methods

The Internship is accompanied by a professor from the Faculty and by a supervisor from the hosting organization.

At the end of the Internship, the hosting organization shall draw up an evaluation report on the performance of the student. The student has to write an internship report that is assessed under the terms laid down in the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra. 

Learning Outcomes

The MAF´s professional route can be completed through a professional Internship in a hosting entity, allowing the student’s integration in an organization, where he/she is cosupervised by a Faculty member and by a supervisor from the hosting organization.

At the end of the Internship, the student writes an internship report aiming various goals, enabling him/her with the following skills:

a) integration in an organization

b) teamwork;

c) realizing decisions’ economic consequences;

d) working in situations of pressure;

e) managing and organizing information.

The internship report should also include a theoretical framework on a subject within the field of Accounting and Taxation, supervised by the Faculty supervisor, where the student will have to show the following skills:

f) Knowing how to use the appropriate methodologies to the chosen topic;

g) Ability to critically analyse, summarize and reflect;

h) Ability to generate new ideas and to sustain them before a jury.

Syllabus

Each student choose the hosting organizations, in dialogue with the MAF’s Coordination and given the available alternatives in the field of Accounting and Taxation. The professional Internship takes place in the context of na agreement signed between the Faculty and the hosting organization. This agreement defines the goals of the Internship, as well as the responsabilities of the student, the Faculty and the hosting organization.

Internship report - The evaluation of the Internship Report is done under the conditions laid down in the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra: 100.0%

Bibliography

A bibliografia será selecionada pelo/a estudante, sob a supervisão do/a orientador/a da Faculdade, incidindo particularmente na área da Contabilidade e Fiscalidade.

Bibliography will be selected by the student, under the supervision of the Faculty supervisor, focusing in particular in the field of Accounting and Taxation.
