Recommended Prerequisites

The skills and knowledge acquired in all curricular units attended in the previous quarters are essential for the successful completion of the thesis project.

Teaching Methods

During the classes, students will present their work-in-process, and the debate between them will be stimulated. Based on this approach, the group can take advantage of each individual's progress.

Learning Outcomes

The objective of this course is to provide doctoral students the opportunity to develop and discuss their thesis project.  Successfully concluded this course, doctoral students should have their thesis project as a formal proposal that can be submitted to the Scientific Council of FEUC.

Syllabus

The formal aspects of a dissertation

Building the research project

The identification and discussion of the goals and the conceptual framework of a dissertation

The contours and limits of the literature review

The methodological approaches.

Presentation and discussion of the project with a panel of specialists.

Note: The work will take place within the framework of the research to be carried out by each doctoral student.
