Recommended Prerequisites

General physiology, Exercise physiology, Youth Sports, Methods of Physical Condition. May also be important a minimal knowledge regarding the english language.

Teaching Methods

The lectures will have a mix theoretical and interactive approach.

The content covered in the theoretical component will be evaluated by two midterm exams..

Thus the evaluation will promote the following assignments:

- Realization of two midterm exams [(A + B) / 2].

Learning Outcomes

The course Training Methodology of Young Athletes intends to address the problem of training youngsters in their quantitative and qualitative dimensions. The need to properly fit the student's Degree in Sport Sciences with the specificities of the training programs in youth is assumed as an asset in order to better fit the necessities of the activities in a real context. The knowledge and critical intervention in the development of endurance, strength, flexibility, speed and coordination in the both propose of increasing the skills but also the opportunity that is given by the identification of readiness state is fundamental to to full the students’ needs in the 1st cycle.

The articulation with Methods of Physical Condition, Planning and Periodization of Sports Training and Sports Specialization I and Sports Specialization II allows the creation of an axis of initial training to meet the needs and demands of practice.

1. Training of physical capacities in young athletes

2. Coordination training methodologies in young athletes

3. Planning and periodization models in the train of young athletes

4. Organization of planning periods: the session unit and the week unit

5. Articulation between different variables of organization of the exercise: the small-sided games

6. Injuries in young athletes. Prevention and reintegration into the practice

7. Technical skills learning ecology.
