Teaching Methods
About 45 hours will be spent in teaching exposure based on the presentation of societal challenges. This implies the critical selection of knowledge and competence to plan interventions (project)s. Additionally, 15 hours are estimate in the construction of a synthesis paper (dossier), 5 hours seminar (conferences, forum, open classes) since they are properly reported; and finally 15 hours of study (one hour per week) using the books published by the University of Coimbra Press (see references), leaving the remaining volume for independent study and preparation for evaluation moments
Learning Outcomes
[1] Understand the ecological and sociogeographic determinants of the human development, including motor domain expressed as motor abilities and functional capacities, as well as sports participation and performance: (i) built environment, (ii) family, (iii) school and (iv) interrelationship with peers with or without adult supervision.
[2] To understand the concept of Sport and Physical Activity and to design programs adjusted to leisure and recreation, integral training and oriented towards middle and long term objectives regarding sports performance;
[3] Designing development models, including methodologies for assessment, mainly batteries and test, for monitoring of intra-individual trajectories and inter-individual comparability, particularly with regard to risk factors, on the one hand, and talent, on the other

MODULE 1: CHILDREN AND YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATION; (i) introduction of the main modalities in Portugal; (ii) contexts conducive to sports; sports statistics
MODULE 2: ENVIRONMENT OF SPORTS PARTICIPATION; (i) profile and skills of coaches; (ii) primary socialization; (iii) stages of the sports preparation; (iv) attitudes towards sports practice and orientation of the training climate.
MODULE 3: THE YOUNG ATHLETE: (i) building a battery; (ii) noninvasive models of body evaluation, maturation and performance; (iii) agreement between invasive and non-invasive measures; (iv) agreement between laboratory and non-laboratory measures
