Theoretical classes using the lecture method and the Socratic dialogue.

Practical classes consisting of group work and resolution of worksheets.

Learning Outcomes

Analyse the social phenomenon according to the methodological principle of understanding and explain the social by the social;

Develop the relational nature of scientific knowledge in rupture with the common sense knowledge of society;

Develop the critical thinking through the continuous critical exercise of scientific reason;

Enhance interdisciplinary through the practice of relate social, cultural and economic dimensions;

Understand the origins of mass schooling in Portugal, integrating it in the process of globalization of education systems worldwide;

Know the theories and models of analysis of social and educational inequalities;

Analyse the school curriculum and the role of Physycal Education;

Analyse Sport as a social phenomenon.
