Recommended Prerequisites
The frequency of the courses of "Management and Innovation Processes" and "Information Systems" is considered an asset. The student should have a basic knowledge of English.
Teaching Methods
Classes will be theoretical-practical, which means that part of the class will be used to present concepts, models and tools for analysis and management of companies, and the remainder for elaboration, discussion and presentation of practical work.
Throughout the semester students will be challenged to develop a business model based on the tool "Business Model Canvas".
At the end of the semester students will present their projects in the "Elevator Pitch" format.
In addition case studies will be solved with the participation of guest speakers.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to stimulate the creation of entrepreneurship and management skills. It seeks to familiarize future professionals with the reality of businesses and the theoretical foundations of the creation and management of SMEs.
The general objectives are:
- Sensitize students to entrepreneurship, stressing the conditions for the success of startups in a context of globalization and digitization;
- Test and implement planning tools; elaboration of the business plan; explore the financing options and simulate the future management of a business unit / company.
Students are expected to be able to develop the following skills:
- Leadership and self-motivation;
- Organization, communication and teamwork;
- Formulate business models through the "Business Model Canvas" tool;
- Evaluate the viability / profitability of a business;
- Use "Design Thinking" to create new business models, services and products.
